ENTROPIES
Entropies are a musical project formed of vocals and keys (Sheida Kiran), violin, guitar (Sophie Sanford), cello (Emilia Pearce), and percussion (Fran Lombardelli). They take inspiration from film scores, and describe their music as a fusion of genres, from indie-jazz, to cinematic and neo-classical. They often use their music to tell human stories from around the world, and their music recently featured in Sheida Kiran’s BBC Our World Documentary ‘Harvesting Turkey’s Tea’. By using a mixture of sounds from their Turkish, Iranian, Japanese and Italian backgrounds, they fuse different elements of world music into their pieces. Their style is influenced by artists such as Portishead, Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter and Hania Rani.
Entropies released their second single, ‘Blue Ghost’ in 2021, which was recorded at Dean Street Studios, and featured on BBC Music Introducing and Radio X’s ‘X-Posure’ show with John Kennedy. Entropies gig regularly in London, in venues such as The Spice of Life Soho, Roadtrip & The Workshop, and with Sofar Sounds, with whom they played in a filmed gig at Madame Tussauds, Baker Street. Entropies’ third single, ‘Murmurations’ was released in 2022, and they released their latest single 'The Run' in 2023.
